American Red Cross training makes learning fun and easy. Through classroom
learning and hands-on practice, you will learn:
- Surveillance skills to help you recognize and prevent injuries
- Rescue skills in the water and on land
- First aid training and professional rescuer CPR to help you
prepare for any emergency
- Professional lifeguard responsibilities like
interacting with the public and addressing uncooperative patrons
Our lifeguarding program is better than ever!
It includes the following:
- A single, condensed book for class and reference
- A lifeguard-specific first aid and CPR video
- Updated material that meets the Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) 2000 guidelines
Important! Please read the following, if you are considering taking advantage of our lifeguarding program.
- Pre-registration is required
- You must be at least 15 years of age
- Participants must pass a swim test that consists of the following:
- A 500 yard swim continuously using each of the these strokes:
- 200 yards crawl
- 100 yards breaststroke
- 200 yards participants' choice of crawl and/or breaststroke
- Swim 20 yards using the crawl or breaststroke. Submerge to a minimum
depth of 7 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object and return to the surface.
- Swim 20 yards with the 10-pound brick using only your feet.
- Participants will receive Lifeguarding, CPR for the Professional
Rescuer and First Aid Certificates upon completion
