Below is a letter from a Family affected by Hurricanes in Florida. Your
support made it possible for us to send our volunteer, Erin Quinn to assist with
Hurricane Relief efforts
Dear Vermont Chapter,
One of your volunteers, Erin Quinn came to Milton to help us after Hurricane Ivan hit. We wanted to thank you very much for sending her to us! She is an awesome person with a great, big heart and everyone fell in love with her instantly. She was especially good with the teens at the shelter who still ask about her. My son, Andrew and I had her and 3 other ARC volunteers stay in our home for about a week. We loved having her here and she immediately became a family member to us. We miss her very much!!
The neat thing was that we also became
ARC volunteers at the shelter. My son and I have learned a lot through
this devastating time in our lives. We were one of the lucky ones
who only lost our frozen and refrigerated food and power for about
4-5 days. It has been hard financially, mentally and emotionally.
We helped out at the shelter and it took our minds off of our own
situation and made it easier. Erin and Meg let me help them on the
ERV for about 4-5 days and it was awesome! I learned so much from
them and actually had a blast! I will continue to volunteer locally
and then, when my son goes to college – I will do more. The example that these 4 women gave me was awesome! I just wanted to let you know that you have one special person volunteering for you. She knows how to be there for people and make them smile. She is so open to people and that’s hard to find these days. Thanks again for all the help that you gave us during Hurricane Ivan. We will never forget it and we will never forget – Erin.
I wish you all the best and have a great day!
Sincerely,
June and Andrew Lyon
